Digital Id - What You Don't Know: Tim Hinchliffe, Steven Tripp & Tony Nikolic on The Protagonists

Australia introduced the Digital ID in 2024 and is expanding its use. The information available emphasises its convenience, its voluntary nature and strict privacy conditions.

However it must be a major concern that it is expanding rapidly to so many essential government and private sector services such as banking, and is already mandatory if you are a Company Director.

It is inconceivable that it will not become mandatory for accessing essential services.

It is also of concern what this digital infrastructure allows the governments to do - to introduce digital currencies such as Central Bank Digital Currencies, further eroding anonymity and personal freedom in the financial sphere. The development of social credit systems and intrusive surveillance of citizens begins with a digital ID.

The Government has already outsourced to social media companies which are also tech behemoths, a choice in whether they use Government ID or not for age assurance. On December 27, all users will need to verify their age when using search engines. At this point your digital ID will link to all your social media posts and your internet shopping with these companies, which are themselves subservient to governments around the globe.

The Australian Government has been entirely dishonest about why it is introducing Government ID. They are not doing it for our convenience. A large number of countries have or about to introduce Digital ID. Australia is a signatory to the UN's Pact for the Future. Why wouldn't this lead to the national Digital ID system being linked to international digital identity programs, dangerously undermining our liberties.
