Several weeks after winning a special election, Arizona Rep. Adelita Grijalva has been sworn into Congress in the nation's capitol. Grijalva, a Democrat, was elected on Sept. 23 to fill her late father's seat to represent Arizona's 7th Congressional District. This comes after Democrats repeatedly asked House Speaker Mike Johnson to swear in Grijalva, despite the federal government shutdown.

"It really does nothing at all to help the American people with making healthcare more affordable," Grijalva said when asked about the current government funding bill. "We have people right now in southern Arizona that received a bill—their premiums are going not double, triple. So when you look at the consequences of us doing nothing, we’re going to put people into debt, medical debt, and they’re going to choose not to take a healthcare plan."
