A scuba diver in the Galapagos Islands had ventured to the remote waters of Darwin Island to come face to face with whale sharks. While he waited on the rock ledge in an area known as "the theatre", this school of horse eyed jacks cruised through and surrounded him, creating the feeling that he had been swallowed up by the mass of fish.
Jacks form bait balls as a means of defence against predators. It confuses larger animals when they try to single out a fish.
