Italian authorities have opened a probe into claims that affluent Westerners paid over $90,000 for “sniper safaris” in 1990s Sarajevo, where they allegedly shot civilians—including men, women, and children—for sport, with an additional fee for targeting kids.

The allegations stem from a complaint filed by journalist Ezio Gavazzeni, who says the “sniper tourists” bribed Bosnian Serb forces to carry out the killings.
