We Asked Airline Passengers: How Do You Feel About the Shutdown Ending?

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on a funding bill tonight, potentially bringing about the end of the longest government shutdown in American history. The initial funding deal passed in the Senate earlier this week after eight Democrats’ joined the Republican side.

On Tuesday, 6% of flights at 40 of the nation’s busiest airports were cut to comply with the Federal Aviation Administration’s shutdown guidance, according to NBC News.

The Daily Signal traveled to one of these affected airports, Reagan Washington National, outside Washington, D.C., to ask passengers how exactly the shutdown has impacted their travel and their feelings about the government potentially reopening.

Here’s what they told us:

“I am excited because it needs to go ahead and get passed. We're over it.”

“I'm disappointed that the Republican Party was willing to take food away from children, and I'm disappointed that the Democrats basically gave away the one opportunity to negotiate for stronger safety net for all of us.”
