This demo shows how sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) can be converted into sodium carbonate (washing soda) simply by heating. The reaction releases carbon dioxide and water, leaving sodium carbonate behind. Sodium carbonate is widely used in glass production, detergents, water treatment, and laboratory chemistry. Safety note: Heating powders should only be performed in a controlled laboratory with proper PPE and ventilation.
