SPOT ON CHESS: GBCC Blindfold Chess Challenges (Simul 1 11/08/25)

Hello one and all fellow chess fans!

This will be part one of a three part series where I review the three games I played from this past weekend's three board blindfold simultaneous Exhibition chess matches. I played three different people, all three, at the same time while blindfolded and without sight of the respective boards. Only made possible by the assistance rendered during the event by Nelson - so a big thanks goes out to Nelson for having recorded the game moves, making my moves for me and relaying moves in an environment of controlled chaos!

Everyone's favorite coffee shop "First Chapter Coffee House" was the place to be this past Saturday. We held an impromptu 3 Board Blindfold Simul... And I found out pretty quick that I need to work my way back up to where I once was with my chess game. My excuses were: I had to contend with 1. a little background noise from the shop and other chess players playing casual games and 2. not being as sharp as I once was at doing blindfold games and 3. perhaps being a bit lazy during this event!!!! All that being said let's look at the board one game today where my opponent Leo went for the win by accepting my King's Gambit pawn offering.

My thanks to the players Leo, Donney and Mitchell and of course Nelson who made the event possible. We had 10 players down at the club this past Saturday and so a great meeting was enjoyed by all!

See you on the squares! ~ S.
