House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries spoke today as some lawmakers agreed upon a stopgap bill that will reopen the government. This comes after a Monday evening vote in the Senate. But the record-long government shutdown is not quite over. Today, several Democratic members of the House Rules Committee delivered remarks, including Jim McGovern of Massachusetts, Mary Gay Scanlon of Pennsylvania, Joe Neguse of Colorado, and Teresa Leger Fernandez of New Mexico.

Yesterday, after the vote, Senate Majority leader John Thune thanked unpaid staff and Capitol Police who stood near him on the floor. "I am very, very happy to be able to say we are coming to the end," Thune said.
