Shawn Levy Says Star Wars: Starfighter Will Deviate from Disney and Respect the Franchise

Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars movie is being pitched as something new while also trying to stay faithful to the franchise before it.

Since Disney has taken over the franchise it has been marked by a considerable lack of respect to George Lucas’s Star Wars. Whether it’s destroying legacy characters, or breaking established lore, Star Wars under Kathleen Kennedy has not been satisfactory for audiences. However, Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter starring Ryan Gosling seems to have, at the very least, attracted some interest. If Levy stay true to what he’s wanting to do then it’s possible this film could find some success. Of course, this is predicated on Kathleen Kennedy allowing it.
