But I would tell my younger self about spiritual life during motherhood...

These days, my kids are grown. But young moms now ask me how I did it: be present with the littles, keep the house clean, food ready, and still get in some personal Bible reading and prayer amidst the rest of daily life.

Social media paints an awful pretty picture of what our mothering lives as Christ followers could look like. It's so easy to see someone's 30 second clip of a dreamy kitchen, giggly kids, cute apron, and an open Bible; and think that we're failures because our homes have never looked like that. Or we get frustrated because we want it to, but can't ever seem to achieve the feeling that it looks like she has on the other side of the screen.

Sweet friend, let me tell you something. The weather within our season of motherhood is ever-changing. Our schedules and availability look different with each passing week, as children are growing, learning, and becoming more independent. In just the same way, your spiritual life will go through weather changes and different seasons too.

You're not less of a Christian if you don't read as much Scripture per day as you used to. You're not far from God if you don't pray for as long as others do. Take in the Word when and how you can during this season. It will be enough, I promise.
