Mechanics expect winter rush

Across northeast Wisconsin people are preparing for a serious drop in the temps over the week. Mechanics are reminding drivers about car maintenance during freezing weather. At Auto Aces in De Pere, the owner says they expect to be slammed next week when the cold weather arrives. Management says the most common problems are people dealing with batteries that give out because of the weather. They also see issues with tires that have gone flat because of the cold and windshield wiper transmissions breaking because the fluid is only good to about -10 degrees. "You got to be careful on the type of washer fluid you buy,” says Owner of Auto Aces Brian Buck. “If you buy inexpensive washer fluid, you see it says -10 on it, you want -20 to -27." The car experts say every ten degrees the temperature drops, you could lose as much as half of a pound of pressure in your tires. If the temps drop as much as forecasted, that means you could lose as much as two and half pounds of pressure late next week.
