Velshi: “Rick, tell me your thoughts on this, because you’ve been so involved in messaging and, you know, for years people have said Republicans are kind of better at this and generally than Democrats are. This was interesting because the big money, the big ads, the big media buys, it may say that may be talking more about the state of media than anything else, but it didn’t work this time for Trump. His messaging, his gaslighting, his lying about inflation didn’t work.”

Wilson: “Correct. Look, I think the most fundamental thing that Democrats took out of this week was that they don’t need to go to the American public with a PowerPoint deck or a policy document, or a climate plan or any of that stuff. You need to go to the American people and talk to them where they are. Abigail Spanberger did that brilliantly in Virginia. She talked to folks where they were. They had been suffering from the damage that Donald Trump and doge and Russell Vought and the shutdown has done to the people and the economy of Virginia. She talked about how unaffordable the state had become. Mikie Sherrill was talking about water bills, power bills, things in New Jersey that made sense to people in their immediate lives. You know, if you’re out of a job right now and you’re and you and you don’t have your SNAP benefits right now and your unemployment is run out right now, you don’t care about climate change right now, maybe that’s an important issue down the line, but you care about somebody who’s going to say, I see what you’re going through, I’m going to help you get out of it. And so that difference, as you pointed out very, very correctly, that these are three very different candidates from the left to the center left. But those folks are ran on on a unifying kind of message. And the Republicans have handed this to them on a platter. As Jen points out, the damage Trump has done is so extensive that it’s going to continue to hurt them all through next year, and they’re not getting out of—“
