New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani said that ICE agents would be “held to the same standard of the law” as everyone else, and that if “you violate the law, you must be held accountable.” These sentiments echo similar ones by former Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who suggested that local authorities could arrest federal immigration officials for enforcing basic immigration law last month.
