What Happens When a "Zero-Failure" Ship Fails? You Call a Deathworlder.

The Xylos are an ancient, elegant, and impossibly fragile species. Their starships are "zero-failure" marvels, automated utopias where the concept of a manual override is considered primitive, crude, and blasphemous.

Inspector Kai Aras is the first human Safety Inspector assigned to their new flagship, the Aethel's Wing. To the Xylos, he is a "crude" barbarian—a "tiny, dense ape" from a Deathworld, obsessed with "impossible" failure scenarios.

Then the impossible happens.

A rival species' logic-virus crashes the "perfect" ship. The "zero-failure" system fails, sealing all doors, cutting off life support, and transforming the elegant paradise into a sterile tomb. The Xylos crew can only follow their procedure: do nothing, and wait for a reboot that will never come.

But Kai Aras has a different procedure. He's a human, and he's about to show the galaxy what a "brute-force" solution really looks like.
