Journalist fired after asking question critical of Israel – EU Commission: We stand for freedom of the press

On Thursday, November 6, 2025, the European Commission was repeatedly questioned by journalists about the dismissal of Italian journalist Gabriele Nunziati. This was triggered by a video that went viral last month in which he questioned the Commission about its double standards regarding Ukraine and Gaza.
Two weeks later, his press agency fired him.
