Do Two Things at Once But Prioritize Each One (USPSA Lesson with GM Joon Kim)

In USPSA, you are always trying to be efficient, shooting while moving or reloading while leaving a position. During his review of my first two matches, USPSA Grand Master Joon Kim pointed out something wasn't thining about during the matches. Having someone with his experience go through the footage and explain what to look for makes it much easier to understand where the time is actually being lost.

He says, “There’s a priority to executing each action.” You can and should do two things at once, like reloading while moving, but one of those actions must take priority in your focus.

In this clip, Joon breaks down how to manage that balance by letting your movement happen subconsciously while putting nearly all your attention on finishing the reload cleanly. Once the reload is complete, then your eyes move to the next position so you can shoot the moment you arrive.
