The pitfall of over identifying with your illness or condition

It’s so easy to fall into the pitfall of losing yourself in your diagnosis, disease, illness, condition, or chronic health issue. Believe me—I understand, and I have been there.

It’s a trap, primarily because what is happening in the background with our subconscious and our nervous system when we do this.

Instead of languaging like “I have mold illness.”

Say “the symptom I am dealing with.”

This moves the symptom or diagnosis OUTSIDE of yourself, which is an important distinction to your subconscious, which is using every word you say and think to determine how to make your body function.

Your identity is NOT your diagnosis. It’s in something far beyond this. Your creativity, your essence, your reason for being, your unique gifting and talents.

And if you want to really heal, you have to let go of finding your identity in whatever the doctor told you and begin, in small ways, to trust the innate wisdom of the body while you refocus on living life again—even if that means tiny incremental changes right now.

If you are in this situation, so much love to you, and I highly recommend getting support with this process as it can be a lot to untangle.

I personally found the most help with this going through the Primal Trust program which is a combination of somatics, brain retraining, and vagal toning. And while I do help clients with nervous system support, it’s not truly my wheel house, which is why I recommend this incredible transformational journey from Dr. Cat.
