Multiple polling places in Northern New Jersey temporarily closed Tuesday morning after receiving emailed bomb threats, later deemed not credible, forcing some voters to cast ballots at alternate locations.

Authorities confirmed that the emails contained false claims of bomb threats, and law enforcement found no credible danger.

Polling sites affected spanned Bergen, Essex, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Passaic counties.

Officials, including Lt. Gov. Tahesha Way, emphasized voter and poll worker safety and coordination with state and federal partners, ABC News has reported.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill called the threats an attempt to suppress voting but encouraged residents to participate.
