A Daredevil’s Fateful Leap Set to Improvised Blues

In Running Leap, courage and recklessness go head-to-head on the edge of a cliff. Daniel bears a constant reminder of his past failure, but he’s ready to try again. He’s convinced that a little pain can’t stop his next stunt, but his friend Ethan isn’t so sure. As one man seeks personal glory while the other braces for disaster, only gravity knows who’s about to win.

Daniel’s unstoppable energy collides with Ethan’s exasperated logic in this dramatic short about courage, chaos, and the thrill of ignoring better judgment. Running Leap reminds us that sometimes, the line between bravery and foolishness is narrower than we’d prefer to admit.

🎵 Music: “Whimsical Romp” was my very first blues composition, and the core sax line was built from pure improvisation. Its upbeat phrasing mirrors Daniel’s impulsive momentum, every note dancing between daring and disaster. The rhythm captures the heart-pounding excitement of his tale, unfiltered, reckless, and wildly alive.

Behind the Scenes: Running Leap was originally written as an entry for NYC Midnight’s Flash Fiction competition back in 2020. The assignment required a drama set around a lake with an arm cast appearing in the story. It took a while for the concept to take shape, but eventually the story tumbled through my mind. What emerged was a submission I was proud to send.
