Is Christ King of Nations?

In this powerful segment from Episode 26 of KNIGHT TIME, we take a quick look at one of the most assumed doctrines in modern political life: the so-called “separation of Church and State.” Where did this idea come from? Is it a timeless truth… or a modern experiment that is unraveling before our very eyes?

Journey back with me to the reign of Queen Isabella of Spain—a monarch often maligned in modern textbooks, but whose worldview was formed not by Enlightenment humanism, but by Catholic universalism. In her time, the Church and the state were not enemies—they were allies, with the Pope acting as the highest moral authority on earth. When tensions rose between Spain and Portugal over new lands, Isabella didn’t look to bureaucrats—she turned to the Pope, the Vicar of Christ, to settle it.

We also draw comparisons to the apostolic Church itself: Just as the early Christians turned to St Peter to settle disputes, Catholic monarchs turned to the popes. The idea that faith must be sidelined is not ancient wisdom—it’s a radical break from Catholic tradition.

Today, we’re told that faith should stay private, that religion should be silenced in the public square. Is this really tolerance, or is it erasure? We ask hard questions:
1. Why do we blindly accept the doctrine of separation of Church and state?
2. Have we considered what this modern creed has cost us—not just politically, but spiritually?
3. And if we’re now realizing how distorted American history has become, why would we assume Catholic history was spared?

Do opponents of Catholicism know what true Catholicism really is? Do modern Catholics know it?

Do I?

This isn’t just a history lesson set to a Socratic melody central to both my current events and historical work. It’s a wake-up call, a spiritual confrontation, a reminder that if Christ is truly King—of temporal nations and civilization itself—then no political order can be neutral about His reign.
