SUDANESE REFUGEES REFUSE U.A.E AID

A spokesperson for Darfur’s refugees in eastern Chad scuppered the UAE’s attempts to whitewash its war on the Sudanese people by refusing the aid delivered by the Gulf state sponsoring the genocidal Rapid Support Forces militia.

The video revealed a major contradiction in the UAE’s shoddy PR attempts. On one hand, it is funding the destruction of Sudan. On the other hand, it claims to donate aid which, even if it was for the benefit of Sudanese people, does not come anywhere close to compensating for the priceless lives lost, and the millions forcibly displaced from their homes.

In addition, there are major doubts as to whether this so-called aid is humanitarian in nature, or whether it is a veneer of legitimacy to mask supply for the RSF’s ongoing war on Sudan and its people. For example, a New York Times investigation from September 2024 revealed how the Emirates Red Crescent was being used to cover arms shipments to the RSF via a hospital it opened in eastern Chad that was meant to serve Sudanese refugees. However, the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent were not allowed to inspect the hospital to confirm that it did as intended.

The use of humanitarian aid emblems to cover direct military operations is a serious breach of international humanitarian law.
