After years of being asked, we reconfigured the special situation flashcards we used throughout my coaching career. These flashcards were born out of the need to broaden the scope & sequence of the special-situation segments of our practice sessions. In addition, we wanted to add an element of surprise to the special-situations segments of our practice sessions. By adding “unexpected” scenarios to these practice segments, the coaches & the players became better at executing special-situation situations. Our teams were never known for being scoring juggernauts, so we found ourselves in special-situation scenarios A LOT! Utilizing these flashcards was one of the best things we ever did as a program.
