On November 1, 2025, Toronto Police responded to reports of a woman armed with two large knives slashing tires of vehicles, including three police cruisers, in the Jane Park Plaza parking lot at 883 Jane Street, North York.Officers confronted the suspect, who was damaging property. To disarm her safely, police deployed a conducted energy weapon (Taser), causing her to fall to the ground. As officers moved to cuff her, a responding officer arrived in an SUV, exited to assist, but left the vehicle in drive instead of park. The SUV rolled forward, running over the suspect's legs and striking one arresting officer.Officers pushed the SUV back. The driver re-entered and accelerated forward—mistaking drive for reverse—rolling over the suspect's legs a second time before shifting to reverse and backing off.Paramedics assessed both the suspect and officer at the scene; neither sustained serious injuries from the vehicle. The suspect was hospitalized for Taser-related assessment and arrested.Toronto Police stated the rollout was inadvertent and are reviewing the incident. No involvement from Ontario's Special Investigations Unit, as injuries were not serious.
