Universal Ostrich Farm - November 3 Interview

Today I'm bringing you an urgent update on the Universal Ostrich Farm located in Edgewood, BC. As you know, they won an emergency stay order from the Supreme Court of Canada, who will decide later this week whether they will hear their appeal. If the decision is negative, nothing will stop the CFIA (Canadian Food and Inspection Agency) from cruelly destroying the entire flock of roughly 400 ostriches.

Please pray for Katie and her family, but also reach out to your local MP and the Canadian Agriculture Minister, who has the power to overturn the decision of the CFIA.

To give you some behind the scenes information on this story, which has been blowing up on social media the past few months, I spoke once again to Katie Pasitney, an owner and operator of this important farming operation. She tells me they have been in a life or death struggle with the CFIA which issued a cull (kill) order for their entire flock of roughly 400 ostriches that they have been using for fascinating medical research on the amazing antibodies they produce.

They've been through roughly 9 months of court battles and a social media campaign that has garnered the attention of people all over the world, including RFK Jr. and Dr. Mehmet Oz who are heads of American government agencies. Both have expressed their support for the ostriches and are against the killing of the entire herd.

For the past 5 weeks their farm has been swarmed by as many as 50 RCMP officers, as well as CFIA agents, and of course, hundreds of supporters, many of whom campout full time on the farm.

Recently, and in the nick of time, their lawyer was able to get an interim stay order from the Supreme Court of Canada. The Court will apparently be releasing their decision this Thursday on whether they will hear the appeal. If they do, the birds will be saved for at least as long as the hearing lasts, if they do not, and if the Agriculture Minister does not intervene, the birds will be exterminated.

Katie and her mother have been fighting this legal battle for 9 months, and are still down about $100,000 in legal fees defending their flock, their farm, and their livelihood. They may still have a long legal battle ahead of them, at the Supreme Court of Canada. She needs your help to keep fighting. Will you please support her today?
