MIKE JOHNSON: '[Dems] Are Using the American People as Pawns'

During a press conference on Day 34 of the government shutdown, House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed his frustration—both personally and on behalf of the Republican Party—about Democrats playing political games at the expense of their constituents’ wellbeing, all to appease the growing pressure from their far Left base.

“Republicans have to have at least seven Democrats. We need five more—five more moderate, centrist, common-sense people who care more about the constituents they serve and the country that they supposedly serve than their own political futures and the retribution they’ll receive from the Marxist Mamdani communist Left in the party if they do the right thing here.”
