Israeli researchers at the Technion Institute have developed "EchoAuth," a revolutionary cybersecurity system inspired by the echolocation of bats. This biomimetic technology uses brief, inaudible acoustic pulses between devices that contain unique signatures based on hardware characteristics and environmental factors. Unlike traditional authentication methods, EchoAuth is resistant to replay and man-in-the-middle attacks, requires minimal computational resources (completing authentication in under 300 milliseconds), and is inherently resistant to quantum computing threats. The system has shown promising results in medical device security at Rambam Hospital, achieving 99.8% accuracy while significantly reducing connection time.
