Sharing his love of the stars at school's 50-year-old planetarium
It's difficult to say which was the stronger influence, his high school years on stage crew or becoming a science teacher. One thing's for sure, when Mark Percy had the chance to run the show at Williamsville North High School Planetarium, he was ready for it. He says "I realized that this planetarium would be an interesting mix of my technical theatre skill as well as teaching science." Mark has been in command of the cool classroom for eighteen years, but the planetarium built in 1969, celebrates it's 50th anniversary this year. Thee have been many upgrade over the years including comfier seats, a laser projector and a new dome. Mark says they offer programs to the public and welcome more than twenty-thousand school kids a year. The stars may get all the attention-but Mark is the wizard who puts it all together adding "you know, the man behind the curtain." You can find more information at the Williamsville School District website.
