My Soul is Overwhelmed

Asaph's psalm seems to have been written after the day of trouble was over, because he keeps using past tense words. “I cried” for example, instead of “I cry.” And in retrospect, Asaph understands that he cried unto God and God gave ear to him. In other words, Asaph cried out and God listened to him, God heard him. What a comfort to know, for the believer, that God hears the cries of His children. God already knows the circumstances you may be in, He already knows what you are going through and He knows your struggles, as a the Loving Father that He is, God wants you to cry out to Him for help, for relief, for peace. Everyday is not going to be a day of ease and comfort, because then your faith in Jesus Christ will not grow. Faith does not grow in comfortable places.
