Russian cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Alexey Zubritsky worked 6 hours and 54 minutes outside the International Space Station today
They attached a device to support a pulse plasma (Impuls) experiment and research into the effect that spacecraft have on Earth's ionosphere. The Impuls study will test the potential for jet engines to work in space.
During the first space walk cosmonauts installed Ekran-M, or the Molecular Beam Epitaxy equipment, designed to produce very thin materials for use in semiconductors.
