Many people prescribed SSRI antidepressants don’t realize that they can cause irreversible damage to sexual function, contrary to what many have been told, says leading sexual medicine clinician Dr. Irwin Goldstein.

“When they stop the medicine, the usual teaching is that everyone returns to their pre-medication sexual function. And that's not what we're seeing in our sexual health clinic here,” he says.
