Knowing God Intimately Part 2: There is no Pregnancy without Presence

1. Presence and Stillness Before God

These verses emphasize the necessity of being still, abiding, and dwelling in God’s presence as the foundation for intimacy.

Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Matthew 11:28–29 — “Come to Me…and I will give you rest.”

Psalm 16:11 — “In Your presence there is fullness of joy.”

Mark 3:14 — “He appointed twelve…so that they might be with Him.”

Exodus 33:11 — The Lord spoke to Moses face to face.

Psalm 27:7–8 — “You have said, ‘Seek My face.’ My heart says, ‘Your face, Lord, do I seek.’”

Luke 10:39–42 — Mary at Jesus’ feet chooses “the one necessary thing.”

Philippians 3:10 — “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection.”

2. Pregnancy Through Presence (Conception by the Spirit)

These verses connect presence with spiritual conception, fruitfulness, and divine overshadowing.

Luke 1:34–35 — The Holy Spirit overshadows Mary; conception through presence.

Psalm 91:1 — “He who dwells in the secret place…shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

God rewards intimacy cultivated in secret — not performance in public.

Matthew 6:5–6 — “Go into your room…pray to your Father in secret.”

Psalm 31:20 — “You hide them in the secret place of Your presence.”

Matthew 10:26–28 — “What I tell you in the dark, say in the light.”

4. Flesh vs. Spirit — The Battle for Presence

A contrast between being driven by desire and sin or faith and obedience.

James 1:13–15 — Desire → Sin → Death.

Psalm 37:4 — “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Galatians 5:16–17, 22–25 — Walk by the Spirit; bear the fruit of the Spirit.

5. Freedom in the Spirit

Where His Spirit is, there is liberty. Freedom is the result of His presence.

2 Corinthians 3:17 — “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

Luke 4:18 — “He has anointed Me to proclaim liberty to the captives.”

Colossians 1:27 — “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

6. Life and Light in His Presence

Jesus, the Word, is the light and life of men — His presence overcomes darkness.

John 1:1–5 — “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.”

Matthew 5:14–16 — “You are the light of the world.”

7. God’s Presence Throughout Redemptive History

From Eden to the Church, God’s presence remains His purpose and plan.

Genesis 3:8 — God walking in the garden; sin causes separation.

John 14:6 — “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

Colossians 1:19 — “In Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell.”

Colossians 2:9–10 — “In Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.”

John 14:16–17 — The Spirit dwelling with and in believers.

John 16:7–11 — The Spirit’s role in conviction and truth.

Acts 1:8 — “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”

8. Barriers to Presence: Shame, Fear, and Self

Sin and self-awareness lead to hiding and separation.

Genesis 3:7–10 — Adam and Eve hide from God’s presence.

1 John 4:17–19 — Perfect love casts out fear.

Hebrews 4:14–16 — Draw near to the throne of grace confidently.

9. Fear of Being Known and Rejected

The enemy twists our fear of being known into separation from intimacy.

Matthew 7:21–23 — “I never knew you.”

Psalm 139:1–4, 23–24 — “Search me, O God, and know my heart.”

10. The Good Shepherd and Being Known

Presence with the Shepherd leads to being known, secure, and fruitful.

John 10:27–28 — “My sheep hear My voice…they follow Me.”

John 17:3 — Eternal life is knowing God and Jesus Christ.

John 10:11–18 — “I am the Good Shepherd; I know My own.”

John 13 — John leaning on Jesus’ chest.

John 19 — Jesus entrusting His mother to John.
