The film traces each legend back to actual events, including the 1946 Moonlight Murders in Texarkana that inspired the Hook Man story and eventually led to the creation of the Halloween franchise, and Ronald O'Bryan who poisoned his own son with cyanide-laced candy to collect insurance money.
