How Jesus Lived - The Disciples’ Fear

Sometimes the same Jesus who said, “Let’s cross over to the other side,” seems silent when the storm hits.

📖 Mark 4:37–38 (CSB)

(37) A great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped.
(38) He was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke him up and said to him, “Teacher! Don’t you care that we’re going to die?”

The disciples had seen His miracles — but this storm made them question His care.
Their cry, “Don’t You care?”, wasn’t rebellion — it was desperation.

We’ve all prayed that same prayer:
“God, where are You? Why aren’t You stopping this?”

But Jesus’ peace in the storm didn’t mean indifference — it meant authority.
He wasn’t panicked because He knew the waves couldn’t win.

đź“– Psalm 4:8 (CSB)

“I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Lord, make me live in safety.”

He rests because He reigns.
And if He’s in your boat, it can rock — but it can’t sink.

đź“– Isaiah 41:10 (CSB)

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.”

đź’ Reflection:

Have you ever asked God, “Don’t You care?”

How does His peace speak louder than your fear?

What storm are you in right now that you can trust Him with?

Even when He seems silent, He’s still the calm in your chaos — the peace in your storm. 💛
