Teamsters Leader Urges Congress to Pass a “Clean” Resolution and Protect Workers

The president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Sean M. O’Brien, made a strong appeal to lawmakers to set politics aside and immediately pass a “clean” continuing resolution that would keep the government running while a long-term agreement is negotiated.

“We took a stand: we represent 1.3 million hardworking men and women in this country,” O’Brien said. “Don’t put workers in the middle of a problem they shouldn’t be in. Think about the families that will be affected — the kids who won’t be able to play sports, the people who won’t be able to pay their mortgage.”

O’Brien also thanked air traffic controllers and the Federal Aviation Administration for their dedication and sacrifice, reminding everyone that aviation safety “is paramount” and must not be compromised. “Pass a clean resolution right now,” he concluded.
