Biblical Audio Commentary – “Perhaps He Will Accept Me”

God in His Word was quite specific when describing who His Chosen People were: they were the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In fact, God changed Jacob’s name to Israel so that the statement would be crystal clear. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. That leaves no room for the people of Abraham and Ishmael. It leaves no room for the people of Isaac and Esau. Only those who call Jacob their forefather are known as the people of Israel.
