Day 303 – Following the Costly Call: The Kingdom Advances — Luke 9–11 | Bible In A Year (CSB)

In these chapters, Jesus sends out His disciples, feeds the five thousand, and reveals His coming suffering and glory. He teaches about the cost of following Him—there are no half-measures in discipleship. As His ministry expands, Jesus exposes the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and calls His followers to authentic faith and prayer that depends on the Father. The Lord’s Prayer stands at the heart of this section, showing us what it truly means to live in communion with God.

Questions:
1. In Luke 9:23, Jesus says that following Him means denying ourselves daily. How does this challenge the modern idea of comfort and self-fulfillment?

2. When Jesus teaches His disciples to pray, He focuses on dependence, forgiveness, and God’s kingdom. How does that model reshape the way you approach prayer?

3. Jesus rebukes the Pharisees for their outward religion that masks inner corruption. How can we guard against the same kind of spiritual hypocrisy in our own lives?
