Night Sky, Fireball, Aurora - October 29-30, 2025

Boulder Valley, Montana.
The sky was making an attempt to remain clear, terrestrial winds were dying down, the solar wind was slightly elevated and the bz component dropping into the negative range allowing for a possiblity of aurora. So the GoPro went out on its tripod to catch whatever showed up in the chilly overnight skies.
First thing that popped into view was a fireball tracking through the Big Dipper just as the sky fully darkened - it was only visible for two frames of the timelapse so I slowed those down a bit to display it better. As midnight approached color began showing at the horizon, then several waves of aurora substorms activated as the night progressed.

Nightlapse footage captured with a GoPro Hero9, video processed through VideoProc Vlogger freeware to correct exposure, contrast and saturation.
