This is the true story of the Greenbrier Bunker in West Virginia: a 112,000-square-foot underground facility designed to house the entire U.S. Congress in the event of nuclear war. It had blast doors, decontamination showers, dormitories for 1,100 people, a hospital, and even a TV broadcast studio.
And almost nobody knew it existed.

In this episode, I tell the story of Richard—a staff member read into the secret—who stood at the blast door entrance during the Cuban Missile Crisis and faced an impossible choice: stay safe in the bunker serving the "elite" for Country, for Democracy or join his pregnant wife (and the rest of humanity) facing nuclear annihilation outside.

This is a story about power, fear, and humanity's desperate attempts to control death.

But it's also a story about where we really find shelter when the world falls apart. Because at the end of the day, it won't matter who had the biggest bunker—it'll come down to who trusted God when the world was burning.
