UP Doctor’s Explosive Claim on Fake Encounters Sparks Uproar — Later Calls His Own Video ‘Fake

Shamli, Uttar Pradesh – A senior government doctor’s startling allegations against the police have triggered widespread controversy and confusion in the district.

Dr. Deepak Kumar, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) at a local health facility, was seen in a viral video accusing Shamli Police of fabricating encounter reports. He alleged that officers pressured medical staff to under-report bullet injuries during post-mortem examinations, claiming that bodies riddled with up to 20 bullets were officially recorded as having just one gunshot wound.

The doctor’s remarks surfaced during a protest over a theft incident at his office, where he criticised police inaction. During the heated demonstration, Dr. Kumar made the serious claims, which were captured on camera and circulated rapidly across social media platforms.

Following the uproar, Shamli Police issued a strong denial, asserting that Dr. Kumar had not been part of any post-mortem panels related to police encounters in 2025. The police termed his allegations “factually baseless” and aimed at creating unnecessary panic.

As the video continued to spread, Dr. Kumar later released another statement, calling the earlier clip “fake” and claiming it was recorded without his consent. He attributed his comments to poor health and mental stress, saying he is undergoing treatment for liver, heart, and psychological issues.

Dr. Kumar clarified that he was not involved in any encounter-related post-mortems this year and requested that his earlier remarks not be taken seriously.

The police have dismissed the allegations as unfounded, reaffirming that no medical panels for encounter cases included Dr. Kumar in 2025. Meanwhile, an inquiry into the viral video and the surrounding controversy is underway.
