Man catches fire while filming reel with petrol and firecracker in Hapur - India

Hapur, India — A young man suffered severe burns while filming a social media reel in Patna Muradpur village, Hapur, after igniting a firecracker with petrol in his hand. The explosion set his body on fire, causing panic among residents.

According to reports, several young men from the village were lighting firecrackers late at night following Diwali celebrations. To intensify the explosions, they poured petrol on the firecrackers. One of them, identified as Honey, was posing for a video when the firecracker suddenly detonated.

The blast caused flames to engulf Honey, who ran in panic as bystanders rushed to extinguish the fire. He was taken to Dev Nandini Hospital in Hapur with serious burn injuries. Doctors later reported that his condition is stable.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, showing the moment the young man caught fire and ran through the flames.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Circle Officer Varun Mishra confirmed that the accident resulted from negligence and warned the public against attempting dangerous stunts for social media content, especially during festivals.
