On 60 Minutes, former U.S. ambassador to Venezuela James Story called President Nicolás Maduro a “bad actor” — adding:

“He’s sitting on top of the world’s largest oil reserves, minerals that will fuel the 21st-century economy… and he’s in bed with our strategic competitors.”

His remarks came as Washington is escalating pressure on Caracas and openly discussing “options” for regime change.

The admission makes clear what Venezuela has said for years: the U.S. obsession with “democracy” in Latin America has always been about control of oil and minerals, not freedom.
