When The Unreasonable Ask Brings The Unreasonably Impossible: Obedience That Brings Miracles

Today I want to cut through the noise and press in on a simple, startling truth: God will ask you to do unreasonable things. When you obey, even when it does not make sense in the natural, the supernatural will follow. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Obedience unlocks the miraculous. Obedience invites God to do the impossible through your life.

The Pattern of the Unreasonable Command

Listen: if you have spent time with God you will recognize His voice when He prompts you. Sometimes He will ask you to speak to dry bones. Sometimes He will ask you to cast your nets on the opposite side of the boat. Sometimes He will ask you to pick up the phone and call the person you are afraid to face. All of those commands sound unreasonable in the natural. They also have one thing in common: when obeyed, God shows up and does the unreasonable for you.

Godly obedience does not look like punishment. It is not the nagging of a harsh parent. Obedience is the pathway to the fullness of what God has for you. He is the author and finisher of your faith. When God asks you to do something, He already knows how He will complete it. Your part is to simply obey.

Ezekiel and the Valley of Dry Bones

Remember Ezekiel hearing God ask, "Can these bones live?" That was not a rational question. Those bones were bleached, cracked, pitted out by the sun. They looked beyond hope. But Ezekiel had learned to recognize God, and he stood in obedience. He prophesied to the bones and the miracle came. I want you to see the principle: when God asks unreasonable things, He is about to do an unreasonably impossible thing.

God is shaking everything that can be shaken so that only His unshakable kingdom remains. Some of you say, "But nothing has changed." You may not yet see the full evidence in the natural, but God has you safely in His cocoon. The great and terrible day of the Lord is a day of shaking. It will be terrible for what must fall and great for those who stand inside His presence. This season is producing a remnant of radical obedience. Ezekiel obeyed; the dead lived.

Two Times Peter Was Told to Fish

Jesus told Peter to do something that looked absurd. In Luke 5, Jesus asks to use Peter’s boat so He can teach the crowd. After He finishes, He tells Peter to row into deep water and let down the nets. Peter had been fishing all night and had not caught a thing. From the natural perspective Jesus was a carpenter and Peter had years of fishing experience. Peter resisted. Finally he said, "If you insist." Even in the hesitancy, obedience went out and the net could not be hauled in. Both boats began to sink full of fish that weren't there an hour earlier.

Then, after the resurrection, Jesus repeats the same unreasonable command in John 21. This was not an accident. The Lord wanted to show the disciples that the season after resurrection is one where obedience still matters. Throw the net over the starboard side. They argued the logic in their heads—how can there be fish on the other side of a boat three or four feet wide? But they obeyed and again the catch was so great the net could not be drawn in.

The lesson is clear: God will ask you to do what your mind says is foolish so that He alone can get the glory. Your obedience is the opening for His supernatural. Do what He asks. The catch will come.

Command the Morning — Decree and It Will Be Established

God gave humanity dominion. One of the ways that dominion plays out is in the spiritual practice of declaring truth. Job was asked, "Have you commanded the morning?" This is not mystical gibberish. It is practical authority. The Bible says, "You shall decree a thing and it shall be established." Speak. Command the day. Decree the presence of God in your work, your family, your finances and your health. Tell the day to serve you. Tell the wickedness to be shaken out. When you decree the light of God over your path and refuse to lean on your own understanding, you position yourself to receive divine intervention.

We are not talking about vain repetition. We are talking about faith that issues from a heart accustomed to listening and obeying. When God speaks, respond. Tell the accuser to shut up. Tell the devourer to backfire. Command the angels to deliver your portion. Speak honestly and specifically. You were created in God’s image to steward the earth. Use the authority He gave you.

The Armor of God: Receiving His Protection

When you step into the armor of God you are putting on His exoskeleton. The armor is custom-fitted to you. It is not meant to be worn in your strength but in His. Put on the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the sword of the Spirit. When God arms you, nothing will stick. The peace you feel in the middle of global shaking is not complacency. It is the result of being covered and shielded by God while He shakes the rest.

Obedience, Tithes, and the Wealth Transfer

God spoke to me to press on obedience and giving in the same breath. He spoke through Malachi, "Return to me and I will return to you." There is a spiritual principle here: faithful giving unlocks provision. Bring the tithe into the storehouse; seed into what God is doing. The promise? "Test me," says the Lord, "and I will throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out blessing you cannot contain." I know this is a hard teaching for some, but it is biblical and practical.

I will confess a moment of obedience that tested me. At a conference last weekend, God told me to "empty my wallet" and sow into an apostolic movement. It was more than I had planned to give. It would hurt. I obeyed. Within twenty-four hours an offering came to my door that was exactly twenty times what I had unloaded the night before. Trips we were still paying for and a trip later in the month - riding on my credit card was suddenly covered with a good sum left over.   The timing and sequence may not match your expectations, but God will honor His word when you step out in faith.  My natural (carnal) mind said, "I cannot afford to give."  My spiritual mind said "I cannot afford not to give". And according to his word he sent it back pressed down shaken together and running over.

God is orchestrating a wealth transfer. The wealth of the wicked has been stored up for the righteous, but it flows to those who walk in obedience. God will show you what to do with the blessing. It is not about comfort or convenience. It is about advancing the kingdom. If you are faithful to obey what He says—whether that is calling someone, forgiving someone, or giving sacrificially—you will be included in what He pours out.

Practical Steps to Radical Obedience
Listen and identify the poke. That gentle convicting nudge in your spirit is frequently God's invitation. If you already know what He is asking, stop arguing and act.
Do the unreasonable immediately. Don’t wait for every fear to dissipate. Obedience does not require full understanding; it requires faith.
Speak decrees over your day. Command the morning to serve you, declare protection, decree recovery, and compel creation to favor you.
Engage the angels. Command angels to secure your journey, to recover what was lost, and to preserve your family and household.
Sow sacrificially. Give cheerfully and with expectancy. Seed-time and harvest still operate. Your giving invites God’s multiplication.
Pray for people you feel led to pray for. Go to the park bench, call the person you’re afraid to call, make that unexpected outreach. Your obedience can plant a seed that revives a life.
What Obedience Looks Like in Everyday Life

Obedience can be ordinary and prophetic at the same time. It can be a phone call to a broken child, a kind word to a traumatized friend, a sacrificial offering, or simply praying for a stranger. When Patricia picks up the phone to call someone she’s scared to call, the hand of God rests on that call. When Nellie prays for the woman she cannot stand, healing begins. When you let down the net because the Lord asked, your boat will be filled beyond capacity.

Do not mistake the simplicity for insignificance. Small acts of faithful obedience are the seedbed of the revival God wants to unleash. He is preparing a remnant for great exploits. He will reduce our numbers to the most faithful few and do tremendous things through us. The sequence is clear: He asks, you obey; He performs, you receive; the harvest accelerates.

Declarations to Speak Now

Speak truth aloud. Use your authority. Here are the kinds of things I say when I command my day and engage heaven:

"By the word of the Lord I scatter every evil plot against my life."
"Every arrow fired against me this day backfires upon the sender."
"Angels, deliver my portion, preserve my path, and restore to me what has been stolen."
"The works of my hands are blessed; everything I touch will be fruitful and multiply."
"Every devourer that has come against my home, finances, hope, or health is rebuked in the name of Jesus."

These are not magic incantations. They are faithful declarations based on God’s Word and the authority He gave you. Command the day. Tell creation its purpose is to serve you as you steward it for His glory.

Closing Words: Break Out by Obeying

If you have been waiting on a miracle, a breakthrough, a harvest, or a restoration, it likely begins with the thing God has already asked you to do. The poke in your heart is not annoyance; it is invitation. The unreasonable ask is not caprice; it is opportunity. The place where your reason says no is the place where His power wants to manifest.

Do not let fear or pride keep you from the obedience that opens the floodgates. Obey the promptings to call, to forgive, to give, to pray, and to step out into the new season. The Lord honors radical obedience with unreasonable, supernatural blessing. It will not always make sense in the natural—but it will make complete sense after it is done. Let the Holy Spirit push you into the miraculous by doing the unreasonable today.
