Get to the Conversation: Story & Context

I coined the term "Get to the Conversation" at my current job because of my approach to teaching reading. I believe that unless we're to write essays that literature must always lead up to the conversation. We must find that spot in a text that we can converse about. At my current job another teacher focuses on reading fluency more than conversation. Though, I've seen overseas that many simply do rote memorization of texts, but cannot chat about the text at all. Though, I had seen this in private schools here I didn't know how bad it was until one time someone had people gather to read like this at a cafe. So, regardless of how mediocre a text is we can learn from it and thus develop empathy from it. The process of literature is a mediator we us to have worthwhile conversation. To pass one's eyes over words to read or watch others chat about texts without dialogue is a merely a pastime without growth. So, to this I say "Get to the Conversation" or find where in here we can chat.
