Tourists Wendy and Steve Shirk were expecting "sunshine and roses" on a family trip in Jamaica, but found themselves spending the night in a shelter as Hurricane Melissa barreled towards the island. "I ain't never been through something like this before," said tourist Eddie Heaven from North Carolina, who added that the experience was "kind of scary." Melissa made landfall near the town of New Hope packing maximum sustained winds of 185 mph, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.
