George Orwell went to Eton College, one of the most elite schools in England — the same place that educated princes and prime ministers.

While many of his classmates went off to Oxford or Cambridge, Orwell took a completely different path — joining the Indian Imperial Police in Burma instead.

That real-world experience, far from privilege and classrooms, would later shape the sharp, honest voice behind Animal Farm and 1984.
