Church attendance, baptism, keeping commandments, being moral—none of it pays for sin. Ephesians 2:8-9 is crystal clear: salvation is by grace through faith, not works. If we could save ourselves, we wouldn't need a Savior. Jesus went to the cross to pay the complete debt we could never pay. He died, was buried, and rose again—that's the gospel.
