Helena Harper’s Personal Log — Entry 00: “Prologue”

"When I opened my eyes, the world was already burning.

I don’t remember how we got there — only the sound of rotors above us and the rain of gunfire clearing a path through the dead. Leon was the first thing I saw, dragging me out of the street like I was something worth saving. I told him to leave me… that I’d only slow him down. He refused — said I wasn’t getting off that easy. I didn’t have the strength to argue.

The city around us was unrecognizable. Agents, soldiers, civilians — all fallen. Their last stand scattered across the asphalt. Leon found a green herb in a wrecked Humvee and used it to patch me up. His hands were steady… too steady for the nightmare we were walking through. He muttered something about too many good agents dying today — that I wouldn’t be added to that list.

We pushed forward through the ruins — the air thick with smoke and decay. A military jet had crashed into a building, flames curling out of shattered windows. The virus had turned Tall Oaks into a graveyard.

Somehow, we were found by a helicopter. and Leon took control like he’d done it a hundred times before. For a moment, I thought we were in the clear — until the dead followed us into the sky. One of them grabbed me. Leon’s shot was clean, fast. Then everything spun — the world collapsing into chaos as we crashed into a skyscraper.

By all rights, we should’ve been dead. But we weren’t.

Inside that tower… we saw something — something massive, something wrong. I don’t know what it was, but Leon looked it in the eye and said, “Back for more.”

That’s where the recording ends.
