Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez delivered a cringe speech at Zohran Mamdani's "New York is Not For Sale" rally in Queens on October 26, 2025, where she went viral for screaming into the microphone while packing multiple accents into one rant.

During her address, AOC attempted to highlight groups like the Irish escaping famine, Italians fleeing fascism, and Jews escaping the Holocaust, in an attempt to pander to the crowd of over 10,000 attendees.

Critics on social media labeled AOC's performance as an "unhinged screaming meltdown," with videos circulating showing her gesticulating emphatically at the podium.

AOC framed Mamdani's campaign as a stand against authoritarianism and corruption, stating, "It is not a coincidence that the very forces Zohran is up against in this race mirror what we are up against nationally."

She further described Mamdani's coalition as "a fascist's worst nightmare," directly addressing threats like a potential Trump presidency.

Bernie Sanders, speaking at the same rally, urged supporters not to underestimate opponents despite polls showing Mamdani in the lead, saying, "Please, please, please, do not underestimate our opponents. They have a huge amount of money." Sanders pandered attempting to emphasize the power of ordinary people to defeat oligarchs, declaring, "You're damn right we can," in reference to challenging economic inequality.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul faced hecklers chanting "tax the rich" during her appearance, responding with, "Oh, you’re fired up, you’re fired up," and later claiming she thought they said "Let's go, Bills." Hochul praised the rally's energy post-event, noting, "What I saw in that stadium was refreshing and energizing to know we can harness all that, to be on the same team."

Zohran Mamdani defended Hochul against the chants, stating, "I went out to hold her hand and hold our hands together to show New York City that the relationship between a mayor and a governor need not always be what it was with Andrew Cuomo."
