Four killed in Cameroon as protests intensify ahead of presidential results

At least four people were killed in Douala, Cameroon, as police clashed with opposition protesters ahead of the announcement of presidential election results.

Supporters of opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma, who claims to have defeated President Paul Biya, defied a protest ban, barricading roads, burning tires, and attacking police, who responded with tear gas and water cannons.

Several security personnel were injured, and protests have spread to multiple cities, including Yaounde and Garoua, Al-Jazeera has reported.

The government has rejected claims of election irregularities, urging citizens to await the official results from the Constitutional Council.
