When the children are trafficked they are sold for sex, or they are taken for Adrenochrome harvesting where they are subjected to fear as their blood is extracted for Adrenochrome, the fear factor increases over time to get the same adrenalised "quality", until such a time that the child is so broken that they have no fear and they are worthless to the harvesting lab.
